Hair Growth & Season
Q: I want to cut my hair due to severe damage. And I was wondering if hair grows more in one season than another. It will be
summer in 3 days. If I get it cut now, will it grow faster? Thanks for your time.
A: Apart from the approved medications that are designed to reverse hair loss, there really isn’t anything that affects hair growth in
the sense of increasing the growth. The rate at which your hair grows is determined by genetics.
You can prevent problems that would inhibit the growth of your hair by keeping your hair clean and
well-conditioned, and by being sure to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet rich in proteins. You should also avoid other physically
detrimental activities such as smoking and drug use.
There are many products available which claim to make hair grow, but there isn’t much to be said
for them apart from anecdotal evidence. At this point in time, there are no established studies that verify any of the claims made by
these products. Many of these products are natural supplements and would not be harmful to you if taken, but you shouldn’t take them
expecting any dramatic increases in hair growth.
